What is NAMMSAT? NAMMSAT was established in 1994 as a collective group of practitioners who supported the increased participation and achievement by Māori in the fields of mathematics, science, engineering and technology. NAMMSAT aimed to facilitate the participation and achievement of Māori in the educational and commercial sectors, and in Research, Science and Technology (RS&T). NAMMSAT's potential was never quite realised, however, the grass roots enthusiasm and large support still exists. Future Directions: NAMMSAT has undergone a process of reconstruction through an interim committee and officers. This entailed a new constitution, a management and strategic plan with aims to establish a full-time secretariat. The interim committee has recognised that the absence of a secretariat in the past was the main reason for NAMMSAT being inactive over recent years.
